Abstract: |
The desk-based assessment was carried out to attain what archaeology may have lain in the proposed development site. The racecourse was located partly on the old river channel and the associated Roman and medieval port for the town of Chester. This meant that any development may come across harbour structures, boats and associated features. Part of the site may have also fallen within the bounds of a Roman cemetery. Part of the site was built over in the post-medieval period before becoming a racecourse. [Au(adp)] |
