The cartographic evidence showed that development on this part of the Isle of Dogs was quite limited until 1896. However, the consolidation of the marshlands to build the 19th century grain storage and rail depot may have sealed, and thus preserved, prehistoric to medieval horizons below. [Au(abr)] |
