Abstract: |
Carried out in advance of proposed mineral extraction, the evaluation revealed small-scale quarrying, probably of Roman date. A charcoal-filled pit was also evident. A narrow gully and three east-west orientated ditches were located, however there was no sign of the Penn Copse Roman villa, thought to be present at this location. [Au(adp)] |
