Abstract: |
An archaeological desk-based assessment concluded that any development would impact significantly on archaeology dating from the prehistoric period onwards. In particular, the known archaeological remains dating to the Roman, Saxon and medieval periods were of local and regional importance. The defences of the Roman fort and Anglo-Saxon burgh were projected to run directly through the proposed development area. The close proximity to the churchyard of St. Mary Magdalene increased the potential for the discovery human burials. [Au(adp)] |
