Abstract: |
Archaeological observations on the site revealed no trace of the known former 18th century brasshouse. The site had been occupied by an ironworks from the mid-19th century until recent times and it seemed likely that the demolition of structures associated with this and subsequent levelling of the site meant that any archaeological remains would have remained buried below the levels reached in the foundation trenches.
