Abstract:
Aerial photographs showed land use, probably from the Bronze Age (as ring ditches) to the Roman period. The main features appeared to be fields, or large enclosed areas and an unusual triangular-shaped double-ditched feature. A coherent system of fields was identified, which excavation showed to be Bronze Age. A Bronze Age earthwork shown by a double ditches shape with adjacent traces delimiting the ringwork into a triangular area. External ditches had been identified on the East Side. The system of multiple parallel ditches, west of the earthwork, were of unknown date and function. A barrow field following a diagonal corridor was revealed, an enclosure of rectangular shape, snake line ditches and a series of ditches which probably formed a field system were also identified. Features of undefined character, but which included what appeared to be a funnel-necked entrance were also noted. [Au(adp)]
