Abstract: |
The excavation of six geotechnical pits revealed a similar sequence across the site. Natural chalk was covered by a thick layer of brickearth. Given the limitations of the exercise, no archaeological features were seen at this level, but worked flint flakes and debitage were recovered from test pits four and five, with charcoal daub flecking supporting the interpretation of prehistoric activity.
