Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during the upgrading of existing drainage systems, and the installation of new drainage runs in the basement of 36 St Andrew's Hill which was undergoing conversion from offices to residential use. The purpose of the watching brief was to determine the existence of archaeological remains and, if present, record their extent. Archaeological deposits and truncated medieval wall foundations, possibly belonging to the King's Great Wardrobe, were recorded in section in five drainage interventions. Additionally, a timber specialist examined and recorded carpenter marks on a joist in the ground floor. [Au(adp)] |
