Abstract: |
Excavation of seven test holes revealed features of uncertain, Middle Saxon, medieval and later date. The features included a grave, which was probably part of a previously investigated Middle Saxon cemetery. The medieval features included several pits, and most were high medieval in date. Natural brickearth and layers of uncertain, medieval and later date were investigated. A layer of dirty brickearth was Middle Saxon or earlier in date. A ploughsoil was probably the result of activity from the late medieval period onwards. [Au] |
