Abstract: |
The watching brief was undertaken during the machine removal of the remaining earth from around the entranceway of an icehouse within the privately owned Moseley Park. It had earlier been suggested that the entrance into the icehouse involved a ramp or a step, but in fact the path led straight in, probably with the original door opening outwards. A change in the brickwork of the path indicated that it had been extended, or replaced when worn out. The location of the wall terminals seemed to confirm that what had been exposed represented the full extent of the entranceway walls. [Au(abr)] |
