Abstract:
A watching brief during remedial works along the River Maun where the collapse of sub-surface mine workings had caused fllooding recorded palaeoenvironmentally rich organic remains across the site, most notably root horizons (indicating former ground surfaces) and peaty zones in the floodplain sands and gravels. Features were noted and recorded within and beneath the topsoil but were concluded to be the result of recent post-medieval drainage. Only one artefact was recovered, a single undatable flint core.
