Abstract: |
Nine evaluation trenches were excavated at the site. A series of large ditches/channels were identified dating from the Roman period to the Saxo-Norman period. These features were possibly part of a managed water channel system. The channels were backfilled in the Saxo-Norman period and boundary ditches and pits were encountered from this period. Medieval pits and possible tanning was identified along with late medieval gravel lanes. The structural remains of the 19th century model laundry were also recorded. [Au(adp)] |
