Abstract: |
<summary>An excavation in advance of a housing development revealed that the earliest evidence for human activity on the site was associated with the modern rubbish tip. However, the site also yielded peat deposits containing evidence of prehistoric flora, and these provided valuable information concerning the development of the natural vegetation on the shore of the River Itchen between about 9,000 BP and 7,000 BP. {italon}AIP{italoff} {italon}SMR Primary Record Numbers:{italoff} SOU 489 (Southampton City Council, Heritage Management investigation identification no) |
