Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation, comprised of three trenches, was undertaken in advance of commercial development. The evaluation revealed amorphous features in all trenches, provisionally interpreted as representing tree clearance and dated, on the bases of lithic material recovered, to the Bronze Age. The quantity and range of lithics recovered indicated domestic activity in the vicinity. The remains of a chalk wall foundation and a gully were observed, sealed by ploughsoil, dating to the medieval period. Various post-medieval pits and ditches delineating garden plots were observed, truncating the ploughsoil and sealed by garden soil. [Au(abr)] |
