Abstract: |
A watching brief, following an earlier desk based assessment, revealed man made cut features. A pond or soakaway dating to the early to mid 17th century was recorded. The fills contained substantial amounts of brewing waste. Two later ponds with similar fills were observed. The large amounts of hops recovered from the fills of the pond features suggested that brewing, on a commercial scale, was taking place in the area.[AIP] |
