Abstract: |
The watching brief recorded post holes and stake holes which were interpreted as relating to fairground structures - including two 6-post booths. These appeared to be of 18th century and later date. Three Late Bronze Age/Early Iron Age (1100-400 BC) ditches were also recorded. These ditches probably formed part of a field system located on the higher ground between the headwaters of the River Anton and the Pillhill Brook, elements of which had been recorded elsewhere on the fairground. Footings from a modern rectangular brick built structure were also recorded in the southern part of the development area. [Au(abr)] |
