Abstract: |
The proposed development was to consist of an extension to the rear of the existing building. The site was located in an area of archaeological and historical significance. The site itself lay within the Sites and Areas of High Archaeological Potential, as defined by Surrey County Council. There was a high potential for prehistoric remains, a moderate-high potential for Saxon and medieval remains, a moderate potential for post-medieval remains and a low potential for Roman. Cartographic evidence showed that the area of the proposed extension functioned as a rear garden. It was likely therefore that any buried archaeological horizons would have suffered only a limited impact. [Au(abr)] |
