Abstract: |
During the course of the watching brief a layer containing organic deposits representing the infill of a palaeochannel was recorded and sampled. Plant macrofossils contained within the deposit were exclusively from alder, probably originating from trees less than 10 years old. The fragments of wood carbon dated produced a date of 3250 BC i.e early Neolithic. This observation helped build a picture of how the Exe floodplain had altered through time. No finds were recovered and no other features were observed.[Au(abr)] |
