Abstract: |
It was clear from the cartographic evidence that the vast majority of the site had no archaeological potential as approximately three quaters of it was occupied by an infilled quarry. The number of entries in the SMR for the vicinity were modest in number and none were located close to the site. It was possible that some areas of the site marginal to the quarry may have survived largely in situ, although borehole logs in these areas suggested that the original topsoil may have been removed. However, these areas were relatively small compared to the size of the site and whilst there was always a small chance that some archaeological deposits may have been present, these were likely to have been of limited potential.
