Abstract: |
Five hectares of a proposed 18 hectares development site near Melton was investigated by geophysical survey. In general, the data revealed that the top and sub-soil layers have a low and relatively uniform magnetic susceptibility, with the result that archaeological features have only a weak expression in terms of geomagnetic anomalies. Nevertheless, detailed examination of the sample data sets revealed a number of geophysical anomalies of possible archaeological interest: these included several linear and acute features, possibly relating to prehistoric or Romano-British activity.
