Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation, was undertaken in the immediate vicinity of the Oratory building, to the north of the main manor building of Seaton Holme and to the south of Rectory Farm. The excavations indicated that the building had substantial foundations, and that elements of several floor surfaces had survived. Outside of the structure, thick rubble deposits indicated the former presence of similar buildings within the vicinity. The core of the building could have been 13th century in date, and may have been used as guest lodgings before its use as a farm building in the post-medieval period. [Au(adp)] |
