Abstract: |
<summary>A desk-based study prior to development collated information on the estate of Dunston Hill - the house, the parkland and the family. The estate was bought in 1704 by John Carr, and the building of the house commenced sometime before his death in 1739; it was altered and enlarged by the family twice later in its life. It was a Ministry of Pensions Hospital until 1956, when it came under the administration of the Gateshead and District Hospital Management Committee. {italon}AIP{italoff}{spacea} |
