Abstract: |
<summary>The evaluation proved negative; it was concluded that the area investigated was quarried for sand and gravel subsequent to archaeological excavations by Bidder in 1922. The area was backfilled with London Clay, probably the waste material from the extension of the Northern Underground Line to Morden. No information concerning the 5th to 7th century cemetery was revealed, however, it was thought that land closer to London Road might require further observation as the quarried area was unlikely to have extended to the road edge. {italon}AIP{italoff}{spacea} |
