Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken, consisting of two trenches. Trench 1 encountered only modern remains. These remains included a brick-built culvert and a substantial thickness of dumped ground make up. These deposits had truncated any earlier archaeological remains that may have originally been present. Trench 2 had not suffered from the recent, substantial truncation although modern services did intrude into earlier remains. This trench contained evidence for medieval activity dated from the 13th and 14th centuries, including pits, a post hole and a large feature, which may have originally been a ditch, a moat or a pond. Further evaluation was recommended to define the extent and interpretation of this feature. [Au(adp)] |
