Abstract: |
The results of this desk-based consultation of a range of historical and archaeological information has revealed that the surrounding Bowcombe Valley has acted as a focus for settlement and agricultural activity since the Bronze Age, with the Nationally Important Clatterford Roman Villa (Scheduled Monument No. 22015) site lying only 60 metres to the East. This report recommends that the second stage of the archaeological evaluation should comprise hand excavation through trial trenching in order to ascertain whether any important archaeological features, deposits or finds are present on the land.[Au(abr)] |
