Abstract: |
Matfen Hall, a substantial country house of c.1830 and later, is accompanied by extensive outbuildings, grouped around two courtyards. In April 1996 the outbuildings were the subject of a general historical and archaeological assessment by Peter F. Ryder. In December 1996 a more detailed investigation of the south-west range (and adjacent structures) was undertaken, preliminary to a planning application. [Au] |
