Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken in advance of proposed residential development. The report concluded that the evaluation clearly demonstrated the presence of significant archaeological features of medieval date on the site and included a bank associated with the town enclosure ditch, pits, post holes. A pottery assemblage dated between the 12th and 13th centuries was recovered and well preserved plant remains in the form of charred cereal grains were also recovered. A further archaeological watching brief was recommended along with further environmental sampling. [Au(adp)] |
