Abstract: |
The assessment concluded that prior to 1852 there were three medieval fulling mills on the site adjoining the lower section of leat, with the documentary evidence suggesting that they were removed between 1832 and 1841. Whilst the survival of foundations of medieval buildings was unlikely, much buried evidence should have remained of the development of the 1770s, the 1820s and the 1850s-60s. [Au(adp)] |
