Abstract: |
A fluxgate gradiometer survey, covering c.1.5ha, was carried out along the projected route of a sewer and over the proposed location of a contractors compound. Anomalies indicative of ridge and furrow ploughing were noted. Other anomalies were thought to have been caused by infilled archaeological ditches forming part of an enclosure with associated ditches/trackway. Discrete anomalies within the enclosure could have been archaeologically significant (pits/graves/cremations?) and might have suggested the presence of an enclosure graveyard. However, a natural origin for these latter anomalies was also a possibility. [Au(abr)] |
