Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken across the site , it comprised five trenches located to provide a representative sample across the site. The evaluation established that the site contained remains of archaeologcial significance and potential. Well-preserved post-medieval structures including wall foundations and brick/flag floors were recorded, supporting the results of the desk top assessment which suggested the site had been occupied successively by a 17th century sugar refinery, 18th century pottery and 19th century malt house. A subsequent excavation was carried out to mitigate any development impact on these archaeological remains. [Au(adp)] |
