Abstract: |
The excavation revealed that the late Georgian structure known as Glinester House replaced two earlier houses on the same site. An early 17th century building probably timber framed was replaced by an upgraded edifice from the mid-17th century. This later 17th century structure was described in a document dating to 1690, and survived until replaced by the Georgian building. These farm houses were surrounded to the north and east by a series of chalk floors, yards and outbuildings, and to the west given over to fields and/or gardens. [Au] |
