Abstract: |
The evaluation recorded two structures of probable medieval date, which may have represented features associated with the hospital site founded in the 13th century and which was dissolved in the 16th century. The limited evidence suggested two structures, one running north-south and well constructed and one running east-west and less well constructed which lay to the west of the chapel site. A possible floor surface of hardened earth lay to the east of the north-south structure. The evaluation was successful in revealing important evidence of a large ditch running north-south and of prehistoric, probably Bronze Age date.[Au(abr)] |
