Abstract: |
Excavations were carried out prior to the construction of 900 houses and a new road. Ten sites of archaeological interest had been identified during earlier evaluation work. The data and artefacts from the excavation indicated the survival of a substantial and well-preserved archaeological landscape, dating from the Bronze Age through to the Roman period. Extensive evidence of arable and pastoral farming was identified, and a number of fragments of late Iron Age pottery from a variety of feature types and location were retrieved. A significant assemblage of mid Iron Age pottery was also found. [Au] |
