Abstract: |
<summary>Evaluation was undertaken, on behalf of the landowners, as part of the Scheduled Monument Consent procedure for extensions to Springfield House, a school that overlies a suggested extra-mural Romano-British temple site (Scheduled Ancient Monument, County Monument No Here & Worc 343e; according to Jabez Allies, writing in the early 1850s, the foundations of a circular stone building of possible Roman date were discovered on the site in 1829). Much of the investigated area proved to have been disturbed by comparatively modern activity, but a significant quantity of Roman material and a short length of sandstone wall foundation were revealed; the links between this and the "temple" could not be ascertained, however. {italon}Au(adp){italoff} {italon}SMR Primary Record Numbers:{italoff} HWCM231 |
