Abstract: |
The evaluation identified that the site had a low archaeological potential, with the majority of archaeological features relating to post-medieval agricultural land use and drainage. A linear cropmark identified in aerial photographs was demonstrated as marking a former stream channel. Several Roman ditches were recorded in the western side of the site, with finds pointing to a date of between AD240 and 300. The function of the ditches was unclear. A small assemblage of Late Iron Age to post-conquest pottery was recovered. The site was thought to have some potential for the discovery of Late Iron Age and Roman remains on the western margin of Warneford Meadow. [Au(adp)] |
