Abstract: |
Following the discovery of human remains during groundworks at the Royal Navy Armaments Depot on the Wiltshire/Hampshire border, archaeological recording was undertaken. Two human skeletons in well cut, slightly oval graves were uncovered. Both skeletons were remains of adults (possibly male), and a large river cobble accompanied one of the burials. Fragments of later prehistoric pottery were recovered from the grave fill. A ditch terminal or pit of middle-late Iron Age date was identified 21 metres to the south. [AIP] |
