Abstract: |
Fieldwalking and an auger survey were carried out at the proposed site of a residential development. A circular earthwork had been identified in woodland to the south, and a number of old field boundaries could be seen as earthworks across parts of the site. During fieldwalking, 18 struck flints were recovered, one of which was probably of Mesolithic date. Six sherds of medieval and early post-medieval pottery were also found. The auger survey investigated but failed to identify the line of a possible palaeochannel, noted after examination of borehole and test-pit logs. Some organic remains were present. [AIP] |
