Abstract: |
The preliminary desk-based study considered the archaeological implications of the proposed residential development on land at Maple Farm. A possible 19th-century quarry shown as being within the development area may have been of local importance. However, the remains of medieval and early post-medieval field systems survived extensively in the form of ridge-and-furrow and associated headlands. The possibility existed that hitherto unknown archaeological sites, or extensions of sites known from nearby areas, may survive beneath the later field system and alluvial deposits.[Au(abr)] |
