Abstract: |
The archaeological monitoring of the six geotechnical pits revealed preserved organic remains sealed beneath alluvial silt on the south-east of the site. A post-medieval date was obtained for one of the stakes recovered. The extent and function of the remains was uncertain but may have been resolved through further field observations and recording. The stakes may have once formed part of a jetty, be related to an earlier leat channel across the floodplain, represent part of a revetment along the riverbank, or form part of a fence marking a boundary.[Au(abr)] |
