Abstract: |
An area of C.808 square metres was evaluated at the site of the Greyfriars Precinct. Trial trenching revealed residual Early Saxon pottery and the location of the town ditch. It was noted that enough foundation survived to complete an overall ground plan of the Friary. Ninety-four discrete graves associated with the Friary were also located. Dissolution evidence was also noted. Post-medieval activity related to quarrying was identified throughout the site. [AIP] |
