Abstract: |
There were no historic or statutorily protected buildings in the vicinity of the proposed development area. Buildings of 19th or 20th century date were present within the area, but these have limited architectural merit. There were no indications that the proposed development was occupied during the prehistoric or Romano-British periods. The focus of the medieval village lay about c.350m west of the study area. The eastern part of the site was occupied by part of the Square and may contained evidence of the iron industry set up to the Winlaton in the late 17th century by Ambrose Crowley. [Au(abr)] |
