Abstract:
A watching brief was carried out during the excavation of foundation and sewer trenches at the site of a residential development. A sequence of medieval garden soils and a post-medieval ditch were revealed, and medieval pottery was recovered. A Victorian tanning pit containing 19th century pottery and pieces of metal and glass was recorded; a Victorian rubbish pit and a probable cess pit were also found. [AIP]
