Abstract: |
The assessment identified little of archaeological potential. The western part of the site appeared to have been disturbed by Victorian and later horticultural activities. The central area consisted of imported material infilling a former stream valley. Only the eastern third of the site remained relatively undisturbed, but geophysical survey failed to identify significant anomalies. Isolated archaeological features, such as pits or post holes could have survived at either end of the site. The nature and extent of engineering works undertaken to culvert the stream in the centre of the site was not known. It was possible that deeply buried waterlogged or alluvial deposits may have been present, although this seemed unlikely. [Au(adp)] |
