Abstract: |
The stratigraphy in the pipe trench indicated that the upper layers were probably produced during the restoration of the church in the earlier part of the 20th century. The results from the pipe trench also demonstrated that there was a potential for archaeological deposits to survive undisturbed beneath the modern deposits. The exposed burial was also of interest because of its position and orientation. Bodies which were buried near to the chancel are frequently associated with important people or with the clergy. Within the lightening conductor pits no archaeological features were observed.[Au(abr)] |
