Abstract: |
In April 2005 whilst working alongside two local metal detectorists, the author discovered an unrecorded late Iron Age and Romano-British settlement. Fieldwork including a geophysical survey and evaluation trenches recorded a large rectilinear enclosure containing at least one substantial building, which stylistically resembled a proto-villa. Large quantities of late Iron Age and Romano-British pottery, Roman and early Saxon metal artefacts suggested that this site was occupied for a long period of time. [Au] |
