Abstract:
Earthworks adjacent to RAF Upavon golf course were surveyed in June 1995 following proposals to extend the course to the north-west, in an area of known archaeological importance. The site lay within the Salisbury Plain Training Area, the largest surviving area of unimproved chalk grassland in Europe, most of which is an SSSI. The earthworks formed two components, an ancient field system, and overlying it a large rectangular enclosure, a post-medieval sheep pen. [Au(abr)]
