Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment was undertaken on a site at the former Sussex Coast Holiday Centre. The study site was shown to have a moderate to good archaeological potential for a number of periods. Previous land use was considered likely to have had a severe impact on any archaeological deposits. The proposed development would have a significant impact on the standing industrial archaeological remains. It was recommended that a rapid photographic survey be made of the former seaplane factory buildings on the site, with a more detailed standing building survey of the pre-First World War aircraft hangar. A watching brief was recommended as the best approach for the new development groundworks. [Au(abr)] |
