Abstract: |
An assessment, comprising a walkover survey and an SMR consultation, was undertaken within two fields which had been registered as an area of archaeological interest, and which formed part of a proposed residential development site. An earlier report covering another part of the site had identified ridge and furrow, field boundaries and a hollow way which had survived as earthworks, and which were typical of a medieval rural landscape. The walkover survey of the second area also identified ridge and furrow, a number of pond features, former field boundaries and a possible hollow way which were likely to have formed part of the medieval landscape. A number of pit-like features may have dated from the post-medieval period. [Au(adp)] |
