Abstract: |
One of the trenches situated in the north of the courtyard area revealed infilling deposits presumably associated with the former pond, but this could not be determined within the more southerly trench four due to the presence of substantial modern disturbance. With the exception of a large possible pit of uncertain origin revealed in trench one, only probable 19th century infilling and levelling was encountered across the site. A small quantity of artefacts was recovered, comprising mainly ceramic building material and including fragments of glazed roof tile, probably of medieval date; most of which appeared residually in the natural.
