Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during groundworks for a new building, which lay within an area of extensive ridge and furrow. Earthworks c. 150m to the south of the site included building platforms, terraced areas and lynchet banks. During the watching brief, no evidence of archaeological deposits other than the ridge and furrow was recorded, suggesting that the area had always been given over to agriculture, and that the historic village had not extended this far. The date of the ridge and furrow was not known, but it was considered likely to have been of the medieval or early post-medieval periods. [AIP] |
